When a typical Aussie wedding comes with a price tag of $50,000, there’s little wonder destination weddings are a popular option to cut down the guest list and double as honeymoon.
Here’s five tips that lets you plan your wedding in style.
1. Start planning as early as you would a normal wedding
Sure, you might think that it’ll be a quicker and easier way to coral your nuptials, but brilliant holiday destinations have high and low seasons, which means they book out quick.
2. Decide on your wedding guest list
The size of your guest list will determine your budget and the venue. Some couples assume that because they’re moving the wedding offsite, that many of your guest won’t come. Never understimate the power of a wedding to convince people to plan that tropical holiday.
3. Someone can organise it all for you
Many resorts have wedding coordinators and it’s a great way to go, unless you plan to be jumping on a plane every five minutes. Once you’ve found the person who’ll be responsible for making sure everything goes according to plan, you can begin talking to them about who preferred suppliers are.
4. Give people plenty of notice
If you do want the full complement of friends and family to see you wed, you’ll need to give them enough time to plan. Send out save the date cards at least five months ahead of the big day. Also, speak to your coordinator about group bookings to save people on accommodation.
5. Make sure everything is legal
Depending on where you plan to be married, there are different government requirements. Be sure to tick every box to ensure that your marriage is legal back home.
